The Moorings – Top Flat
Cemaes Bay, Anglesey
The Moorings top Flat self-catering apartment is located right next to the beach - the garden wall forms part of the sea wall! With breathtaking views this flat is located in the idyllic village of Cemaes Bay and provides an ideal base for exploring the area. Plenty of places to go for day trips and in walking distance are shops, a pub and a great park with a very fast zip wire! Easy access from the large garden to the beautiful coastal path.
Top Flat The Moorings, Cemaes Bay, Anglesey holiday apartment, the setting of Top Flat is really quite special, offering breathtaking views of the village, the harbour and out to sea from the kitchen, lounge and bedroom, whatever time of the year.
Cemaes is a small fishing village with narrow streets, a few shops and pubs and a hotel with bars and a bistro. It is located on the north coast of the island and is a good starting point for cliff walking. There is a nature reserve at Cemlyn to the west and Church Bay further along the coast attracts many visitors.
At the eastern end of the village is a broad, flat, sandy beach which offers a great venue for sunbathing, swimming and water sports.
Wide panoramic windows provide an extensive view of the bay from the kitchen table which provides seating for four. The recently refurbished light airy kitchen includes an electric cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and washing machine.
The large airy lounge contains one 3-seater settee and one 2-seater settee, one armchair, a 32in TV equipped with Freeview and a DVD player. There is an attractive fireplace with elegant fire surround and a log burning stove. A selection of games and books is available from the cabinet beneath the TV but the view from the large patio doors is so captivating that it is difficult to concentrate on anything else.
The double bed has matching bedside cabinets, two chests of drawers and a wardrobe. The room is enhanced by the decorative fireplace and surround, competing for attention with the views of the sea and the village.
This bedroom contains twin bunk beds and a sofa bed. There is also a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
The family bathroom contains a full-size bath, a shower over the bath, a toilet, a hand basin and a heated towel rail.
32 inch TV, DVD player, Freesat and a selection of books.
The property has the benefit of a large garden (shared with the downstairs flat), overlooking the bay, as well as off road parking for one vehicle. There is additional off road parking alongside the beach and roadside parking on the beach road. A decking area at the bottom of the garden is the perfect spot to read the morning newspaper overlooking the bay. The decking area has a table and 4 chairs.
Please note that property is located on the first floor, accessed via an external flight of 18 steps – a small inconvenience for the amazing views!
• Central heating
• Log burning stove in lounge
• Towels and linen included
• Private parking for 1 vehicle
• No internet access
• Travel cot and high chair available
• Can be booked with Lower Flat to accommodate 14
• Close to the beach with wonderful sea views
Very relaxing and enjoyable week
´Having enjoyed the superb views for a week, we can´t see our selves staying anywhere else when visiting Cemaes Bay. We enjoyed being so close to the sea. Very relaxing and enjoyable week.

We stayed in the Top Flat at the Moorings in Cemaes Bay at the end of July and what a location! The views from nearly all windows were absolutely amazing. And what a fantastic surprise to find a brand new balcony and terrace had been created (the pictures on the website and on Trip Advisor don’t show this). This gave us outside access directly from the living room where we could soak up the views and the sunshine. Elsewhere, the flat was spacious and comfortable, providing a great base for our annual ‘bucket and spade’ holiday. The double bedroom was spacious with plenty of cupboard and drawer space and the smaller room provides exciting sleeping options for an 8 year old. The small bathroom, with shower over the bath, was easily accessed from either bedroom. Towels and bedlinen were provided (which was surprisingly not the case with other holiday rentals). The kitchen / dining area had a huge window overlooking the bay which provided great views and a great light for painting, drawing and playing games when the weather wasn’t too brilliant and besides a capacious fridge with proper freezer, ceramic hob and wall mounted oven, there’s a dishwasher and washing machine too. There were a few things we could have done with in the kitchen – a potato peeler/scraper and a small kitchen knife for instance, but otherwise we had everything we needed. Who wants to peel potatoes on their holidays anyway! As well as one day on the beach, our trips and entertainment included a fabulous cliff top walk from the doorstep to the Porth Wen brick works and then back along country lanes, a visit to the Sea Zoo, a wet afternoon at the very lovely cinema in Holyhead (great value for money, by the way, and thanks to Disney for timing the launch of BFG just perfectly), a shorter but interesting walk around the village and visits to several tea-shop stops including the Heritage Centre tea room on the High Street. The Top Flat at the Moorings was excellent value for money and Cemaes Bay has everything you need for a bucket and spade holiday – two beaches, a butcher, a baker, a convenience store, 2 pubs and a hotel serving food, a highly rated fish and chip shop, a couple of cafes and there are gift shops and a gallery.

The accommodation exceed our expectations in every way although a larger more up to date television would be appreciated for the days where the weather is not so good. The views over the bay are not only magnificent but also mesmerising.
My Sister and I had a wonderful stay at the moorings, there wasn’t a thing we would change. It was the first time we had been away together, since we were children, so it could have gone terribly pear shaped, but everything went easy from the moment we saw it on line, the booking was easy, in fact everything to do with holiday was perfect. Hope this is the first of many.
Lovely little apartment in a quiet sea side village
Very pleasant comfortable apartment with a lovey view across the bay. Kids had a great time collecting shells and flying kites on the beach which is in touching distance. Lovely place and we would certainly consider returning again for a short break. Beware of the path down the side of the house which can get slippy when wet.
Great short break
We had a great short break. The location is magnificent with gorgeous sweeping views of the bay. The apartment/flat is spotless and clean wt all u need
A few days away from it all.
The flat is very clean and comfortable, and well equipped with relaxing views.Nice coffee shop in the village The log fire ,nice in the evening with a glass or two of red, would we go again Yes…….
great view good location village near good pubs nice little cafes great craft shop very friendly good butchers in village lots of good walks we hope to come again soon my husband enjoyed fishing
Wonderful Accommodation, Setting and Countryside
We loved the view of the beach from the windows, with the tide coming in and out, and the terns bomb-diving for fish. The proximity to the coastal walking trails was great and we enjoyed the scenery on the trails immensely. The apartment was comfortable, clean and a pleasant place to be in. The village was small, but had interesting stores and restaurants. We used public busses to get around, and that worked out well. We would love to come again.
wonderful setting and well equipped
we had a lovely week staying in this property. it is in an excellent location with amazing views of the bay – it even has its own private steps onto the beach! it was very clean and well equipped, with toys, books and DVDs for the children. lovely garden, too. The only drawback is the tricky car parking spot – an uneven surface will scrape the bottom of your car if you’re not careful. However, there are plenty of free parking spaces just around the corner on the main road.
Absolutely love this apartment, have stayed 4 times in the last 18 months. Will visit again as soon as it’s available when we are. Everything is always spotless & in full working order. Very, very handy for the sea / fishing & no more than a 2 minute stroll to the village itself.
Weekend with Friends
We have just returned from a lovely weekend at this top class 2 bedroomed flat. The flat was well equipped with a kitchen/dining room/lounge. The kitchen had an electric hob/oven and microwave, there was a fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The kitchen/lounge overlooked the bay which was beautiful. There was a bathroom with bath/shower/toilet/wash basin, the first bedroom had bunk beds, the second bedroom had a double bed which overlooked the bay. There were steps up to the flat which were ok but I would not recommend for disabled person or elderly unless they can manage steep steps. The views at the flat were spectacular, the linen, towels were clean, the flat was spotless and I would definitely love to return again.
We had a lovely weekend away in Cemaes Bay & the Top Flat was perfect for our family. It is within walking distance of the beach, shops, park & coastal path. The Top Flat had wonderful views of the sea & we loved watching the tides change over the weekend.
Excellent holiday helped by the wonderful weather the accommodation was perfect, very clean, fully equipped with everything we needed for a self catering holiday. Planning to book again
Beautiful flat,central location,spectacular views
Lovely clean flat with all amenities.Possibly wi fi only extra that would improve on anything. Easy walking distance to shops and public houses /restaurants There is one car parking place at rear which is very tight to get in to.Because there are steps to flat entrance might be a bit difficult if infirm or disabled
Amazing views from the homely apartment!!
Wow – the views from this apartment are amazing – to watch the tide come in and out from the comfort of your armchair is great. There is everything that you need for a really relaxing stay and the log burning fire (complete with logs) makes it extra special. Local shops and pubs are all within a short walk. The Sunday Lunch in The Stag in the village is a must. We can’t wait to go back!!!!
“Superb location, friendly village”
My husband and I stayed at the Top Flat, The Moorings and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was superb and the views from the flat were fantastic. It was only a short distance to the shops, pubs etc, and the people were friendly. The only downside was the parking but it was much easier to park in the bay carpark and walk up to the flat. The flat was clean and tidy and very welcoming. We will definately visit again
Perfect flat and location
A quiet romantic retreat – tucked away in a small village with wonderful views of the bay. The accommodation was clean and well presented and we specially liked watching the tide come in and out each day and having a nightly wander around the quay. Cliff top walks enjoyed and the local shops and cafes. Not suitable for those less mobile as there is a flight of stone steps up to the property. If you want a quiet retreat with good walking this is the place for you.
Great View – complete relaxation
This was the second long weekend away at the Top Flat, The Moorings booked through Coastal Holidays and I intend to make it a third this year. The location couldn’t be better, overlooking beautiful Cemaes Bay. The accommodation is clean and well equipped, it has everything you need for a comfortable self catering holiday. There is a lovely garden which, weather permitting, is great to chill out in. The best thing about the property is the view from the lounge and dining kitchen – it really is exceptional. For a relaxing break the Top Flat, The Moorings is perfect. Gill, Sharon & Nathan
fabulous views, clean spacious apartment, perfect position
Lovely apartment which is ideally situated for travelling around the island. Superb garden and decking area, which is a little sun trap, with great views over Cemaes Bay. The Stag public house nearby for a good meal and pleasant hospitality.
A lovely weekend break
It was a very clean flat, the views from the kitchen and lounge were great, we loved sitting having breakfast watching the turns diving in the water.A nice sized kitchen with all you need, especially a good sized fridge freezer. Not far to go to do any shopping. We enjoyed walks in and around Cemaes Bay. We hope to return in the near future.Difficulty in accessing the parking
Superb flat with great views of the bay.
The top flat is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the sea and beach views which are right on the doorstep. The quiet village and harbour with a few pubs and shops are also easy to stroll to so you can leave the driving for a few days. We stayed for 5 nights, monday to sat and we did some cycling and coastal walks and found the nearby areas very picturesque though quite tough as it is very hilly so be prepared! The flat is well worth a visit and we hope to be back again to be mesmerised by the fascinating ebb and flow of the tide, the constantly changing views and interesing birdlife. The flat is very well equipped with modern kitchen appliances, thoughtful decor and some nice surprises included which was a bonus. I would recommend parking in front of the house at the free public car park rather than round the back as convenient so no need to drive up the steep drive which “bottomed” the car!
We’ve stayed in Cemaes Bay loads of times previously but have stayed in the Harbour Hotel, this time as we have a 3 year old we thought we’d get a self catering place instead & we were not disappointed. We were a bit sceptical when we pulled up here as the downstairs flat didn’t look in the best state of repair and the stairs up to the appartment aren’t fantastic. But once we were in the appartment it was amazing. Absolutely fantastic views across the bay & everything we needed for a short break. It felt like a home from home with great views! We were there when the wind was bad & the doors in the living room whistled as the wind blew through a few gaps but thats more of a observation than a complaint! I’d recommend this place to anyone – we will be going again.
Absolutely fabulous & most enjoyable holiday
The holiday flat was very well equiped with everything a family may need whilst staying there. The only things you need to take is your clothes, food & personal stuff. However, if you are taking a young child there are a few toys & a cot bed with duvet etc but, no high chair, which caused a few problems at meal times. Out of the lounge window were fantastic coastal views, we all found watching the tide come in & out very therapeutic & on actually had the television on to catch up with the weather & news. The beach was in walking distance, as were the shops including a chemist. The nearest supermarket (Co-op) is in Amllech, yet Tesco have a superstore in Holyhead. The flat would not be suitable for people with any mobilty limitations as you have to climb quite a steep set of steps to access the flat. Driving in & out of the allotted parking space could be an issue as well due to tight narrow lanes. Would definately book this flat again when visiting Anglesey.
Beautiful Cemeas Bay
“The Moorings is perfect, just what you need for a wonderful break. The views from the flat are truly beautiful and mesmerising! We have already booked to come back again!”
Wonderful vacation location
“This is a wonderful location…overlooking a bay, close to hiking trails. We loved watching the tide come in and out. The coastal trail is for the most part well marked. We used the public buses for travel, and the drivers were helpful, and a publication of all bus routes available on the bus. The village of Cemaes is small, but has essentials.”
“Well equipped accommodation . Perfect for a relaxing stay .
Great for walks along the coast path . Good food at the Harbour hotel. Would recommend to others.”
Not our first or last visit
“A beautiful flat / apartment that just feels like a home. The views are outstanding whatever the time of year.
The place is always spotless on arrival. Perhaps some people couldn’t live without the internet but it suits us fine. All the appliances are modern & work well, including the central heating and log burner.
The approach to the flat & the parking spot is a bit tight but you could always park down below on the free roadside parking area. It’s less than a minutes walk to the flat from there.
We love it & have visited several times.”
A perfect break
“This is the second time we have stayed at The Moorings and once again we loved it. A well presented, comfortable and cosy
place to stay, ideal for couples or families, in a terrific location, right against the shoreline of beautiful Camaes Bay. The apartment is well equiped and always clean.
We will be returning in the future and would wholeheartedly recommend The Moorings to anyone.”
