The surrounding area
On Anglesey, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re planning a family day out with the kids or a relaxing afternoon on one of our lovely sandy beaches, we hope you like some of the suggestions below:
East coast beaches
Benllech is a popular sea side destination. The Anglesey Coastal Path and the Wales Coat Path pass through Benllech. Lovely sandy beach ideal for building sandcastles and the rock pools are great for catching crabs! Beach rangers patrol the beach in the summer months and provide organised games for the kids. The beach is family friendly with toilets and refreshments nearby. In the summer holidays it’s a very busy beach but the beach is wide enough to find a quiet spot if you so wish. Sections of the beach are ‘No dogs’ but there are plenty of areas where dogs are allowed.
North coast beaches
At the northern end of the A5025, Amlwch is a historic fishing village associated with the ‘Copper Kingdom’ of Parys Mountain whereas Cemaes Bay is an attractive beach resort, close to Cemlyn nature reserve and Church Bay (Porth Swtan) with its tall cliffs and the oldest fully restored cottage on Anglesey. The National Trust heritage coastline boasts mile after mile of uninterrupted walks along the coastal path. Also at Church Bay is the locally renowned ‘Lobster Pot’ restaurant and ‘Wavecrest’ coffee shop at the end of the coastal path with its speciality cream teas as well as many other homemade delicacies. This area is excellent for all water sports, cycling on the local and national networks, fishing at Llyn Alaw, walking the Anglesey Coastal Path or just quiet reflection.
Security Deposit
Jolly Sailor requires a £150 security deposit.

Brilliant
Had a short weekend break wished it could have been longer. Jolly sailor is very spacious and comfortable but the best aspect is the wonderful panoramic views of the bay. The owner Keith lives on the ground floor and couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. Have already recommended to family and friends and will definitely be returning.

Keith was a great host. From the beginning he met us outside The Jolly Sailor and gave us a tour of the accommodation. During our stay he was informative and helpful, very friendly. When we left we promised to return again. The view from the flat is gorgeous and is well stocked with binoculars to view the sea life. The area around the bay had many coves and rock pools to explore. Can’t wait to go back to Cemaes Bay.

Idyllic family location. This beautiful apartment overlooks directly onto the bay that kept our children aged 10 to 17 busy rock pooling and swimming in the very safe shallow bay, protected from the waves. Rock pooling at 9pm as right on the beachfront !! . Quiet village hosts all of the essentials and you are 30 minutes drive from a range of family adventures and days out. Great apartment with every thing you need, musical instruments are brilliant when family are all keen musicians . Keith was a brilliant host, really welcoming on arrival and great through the stay. Highly recommended and we cant wait to return, we will definitely be back.

Keith’s beautiful place has the most stunning panoramic views of Cemaes Bay that will keep you spellbound as you watch the ebb and flow of the tide, the changing light, and the vagaries of our great British weather. Keith was the perfect host and made us feel immediately welcome. His place is immaculate and well equipped and has a great verandah to watch the world coming and going. There are plenty of binoculars to help you keep an eye on what’s going on in the Bay (I think I spotted a Great Egret!) There is an excellent selection of books and CDs, and with shops, bars and a restaurant all within a two minute walk, what more could you ask for?!
