Top flat, the Moorings is right next to the beach (the garden wall forms part of the sea wall) with breath-taking views, this recently refurbished first floor flat is located in the idyllic village of Cemaes Bay and provides an ideal base for exploring the fishing village, North Anglesey and beyond.
The setting of this property is really quite special, offering breathtaking views of the village, the harbour and out to sea from the kitchen, lounge and bedroom, whatever time of the year.
Cemaes is a small fishing village with narrow streets, a few shops and pubs and a hotel with bars and a bistro. It is located on the north coast of the island and is a good starting point for cliff walking. There is a nature reserve at Cemlyn to the west and Church Bay further along the coast attracts many visitors.
At the eastern end of the village is a broad, flat, sandy beach which offers a great venue for sunbathing, swimming and water sports.
Wide panoramic windows provide an extensive view of the bay from the kitchen table which provides seating for four. The recently refurbished light airy kitchen includes an electric cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and washing machine.
The large airy lounge contains one 3-seater settee and one 2-seater settee, one armchair, a 32in TV equipped with Freeview and a DVD player. There is an attractive fireplace with elegant fire surround and a log burning stove. A selection of games and books is available from the cabinet beneath the TV but the view from the large patio doors is so captivating that it is difficult to concentrate on anything else.
The double bed has matching bedside cabinets, two chests of drawers and a wardrobe. The room is enhanced by the decorative fireplace and surround, competing for attention with the views of the sea and the village.
This bedroom contains twin bunk beds and a sofa bed. There is also a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
The family bathroom contains a full-size bath, a shower over the bath, a toilet, a hand basin and a heated towel rail.
32 inch TV, DVD player, Freesat and a selection of books.
The property has the benefit of a large garden (shared with the downstairs flat), overlooking the bay, as well as off road parking for one vehicle. There is additional off road parking alongside the beach and roadside parking on the beach road. A decking area at the bottom of the garden is the perfect spot to read the morning newspaper overlooking the bay. The decking area has a table and 4 chairs.
Please note that property is located on the first floor, accessed via an external flight of 18 steps - a small inconvenience for the amazing views!
• Central heating
• Log burning stove in lounge
• Towels and linen included
• Private parking for 1 vehicle
• No internet access
• Travel cot and high chair available
• Can be booked with Lower Flat to accommodate 14
• Close to the beach with wonderful sea views

Weekend with Friends
We have just returned from a lovely weekend at this top class 2 bedroomed flat. The flat was well equipped with a kitchen/dining room/lounge. The kitchen had an electric hob/oven and microwave, there was a fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The kitchen/lounge overlooked the bay which was beautiful. There was a bathroom with bath/shower/toilet/wash basin, the first bedroom had bunk beds, the second bedroom had a double bed which overlooked the bay. There were steps up to the flat which were ok but I would not recommend for disabled person or elderly unless they can manage steep steps. The views at the flat were spectacular, the linen, towels were clean, the flat was spotless and I would definitely love to return again. May 2014Review Source - Trip Advisor
We had a lovely weekend away in Cemaes Bay & the Top Flat was perfect for our family. It is within walking distance of the beach, shops, park & coastal path. The Top Flat had wonderful views of the sea & we loved watching the tides change over the weekend. Aug 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor
Amazing views from the homely apartment!!
Wow - the views from this apartment are amazing - to watch the tide come in and out from the comfort of your armchair is great. There is everything that you need for a really relaxing stay and the log burning fire (complete with logs) makes it extra special. Local shops and pubs are all within a short walk. The Sunday Lunch in The Stag in the village is a must. We can't wait to go back!!!! Aug 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor
Beautiful flat,central location,spectacular views
Lovely clean flat with all amenities.Possibly wi fi only extra that would improve on anything. Easy walking distance to shops and public houses /restaurants There is one car parking place at rear which is very tight to get in to.Because there are steps to flat entrance might be a bit difficult if infirm or disabled Aug 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor

Stunning views across the bay
We have just returned from our second stay at Top Flat, The Moorings, Cemaes Bay. The flat is in a fantastic position with stunning views across the bay. The flat is well equipped, clean and warm and cosy with a log burner with fuel provided in the winter months. There is a delightful garden running to the beach with a raised decked area where one can relax and enjoy an even closer view across the bay. Cemaes Bay is a delightful little village with a lovely harbour, two pubs, a hotel and a good selection of shops. We will definitely return to Cemaes Bay and having stopped at the Moorings we would not consider stopping anywhere else due to its unique position. The accommodation is not suitable for those who have mobility issues due to the access to the flat being up a set of stone steps. We have found Coastal Holidays a pleasant and efficient company to deal with. 11 April 2014Review Source - Via Google Plus
The position was exceptional and the house and gardens were of the same calibre, absolutely superb. The little village was just delightful and a perfect place for a quite holiday, the people were very friendly in the shops and pubs. Many thanks Raymond & Kathleen´Review Source - Property Guestbook
Our first visit to Cemaes Bay and Anglesey & it will defiantly not be our last. We've found a real gem of a place at The Moorings', comfortable, cosy flat with stunning views across the ever changing bay. Any spare bread? Don't forget to feed the ducks on your very own 'private' beach. Julia & Mick - North Anston, 10/9/11Review Source - Property Guestbook

a new venture
Dear sirs, This was a new venture a holiday on Anglesey. We had visited previously but never stayed for a holiday, from the pictures it looked like it was in a perfect position overlooking the bay. We were not let down the position was exceptional and the house and gardens were of the same calibre absolutely superb. The little village was just delightful and a perfect place for a quiet holiday, the people were very friendly in the shops and pubs. We were very happy with your helpful information and factsheets these proved to be invaluable and we used them on many occasions. Thank you all again for all you did to make our holiday special and we will not linger in booking our next break on your lovely little island. Many Thanks Raymond and KathleenReview Source - Via Email to Coastal Holidays
The view of the sea from the Top Flat was superb
We really enjoyed staying in The Moorings Top Flat & thought it was a perfect location in Cemaes Bay. We've stayed in several cottages in Cemaes but the view of the sea from the Top Flat was superb! The photos online didn't do the rooms justice & we were surprised how spacious the flat is, especially the bedrooms. We'll certainly book again & next time hope to stay in the Lower Flat with friends. Thanks for all your assistance in booking our last minute weekend away! A lovely weekend break
It was a very clean flat, the views from the kitchen and lounge were great, we loved sitting having breakfast watching the turns diving in the water.A nice sized kitchen with all you need, especially a good sized fridge freezer. Not far to go to do any shopping. We enjoyed walks in and around Cemaes Bay. We hope to return in the near future.Difficulty in accessing the parking. Feb 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor
Superb location, friendly village
My husband and I stayed at the Top Flat, The Moorings and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was superb and the views from the flat were fantastic. It was only a short distance to the shops, pubs etc, and the people were friendly. The only downside was the parking but it was much easier to park in the bay carpark and walk up to the flat. The flat was clean and tidy and very welcoming. We will definately visit again. March 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor
Great View - complete relaxation
This was the second long weekend away at the Top Flat, The Moorings booked through Coastal Holidays and I intend to make it a third this year. The location couldn't be better, overlooking beautiful Cemaes Bay. The accommodation is clean and well equipped, it has everything you need for a comfortable self catering holiday. There is a lovely garden which, weather permitting, is great to chill out in. The best thing about the property is the view from the lounge and dining kitchen - it really is exceptional. For a relaxing break the Top Flat, The Moorings is perfect. Gill, Sharon & Nathan Mar 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor
Perfect flat and location
A quiet romantic retreat - tucked away in a small village with wonderful views of the bay. The accommodation was clean and well presented and we specially liked watching the tide come in and out each day and having a nightly wander around the quay. Cliff top walks enjoyed and the local shops and cafes. Not suitable for those less mobile as there is a flight of stone steps up to the property. If you want a quiet retreat with good walking this is the place for you. March 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor
fabulous views, clean spacious apartment, perfect position
Lovely apartment which is ideally situated for travelling around the island. Superb garden and decking area, which is a little sun trap, with great views over Cemaes Bay. The Stag public house nearby for a good meal and pleasant hospitality. Feb 2013Review Source - Trip Advisor
Superb flat with great views of the bay
The top flat is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the sea and beach views which are right on the doorstep. The quiet village and harbour with a few pubs and shops are also easy to stroll to so you can leave the driving for a few days. We stayed for 5 nights, monday to sat and we did some cycling and coastal walks and found the nearby areas very picturesque though quite tough as it is very hilly so be prepared! The flat is well worth a visit and we hope to be back again to be mesmerised by the fascinating ebb and flow of the tide, the constantly changing views and interesing birdlife. The flat is very well equipped with modern kitchen appliances, thoughtful decor and some nice surprises included which was a bonus. I would recommend parking in front of the house at the free public car park rather than round the back as convenient so no need to drive up the steep drive which "bottomed" the car!Review Source - Trip Advisor
We've stayed in Cemaes Bay loads of times previously but have stayed in the Harbour Hotel, this time as we have a 3 year old we thought we'd get a self catering place instead & we were not disappointed. We were a bit sceptical when we pulled up here as the downstairs flat didn't look in the best state of repair and the stairs up to the appartment aren't fantastic. But once we were in the appartment it was amazing. Absolutely fantastic views across the bay & everything we needed for a short break. It felt like a home from home with great views! We were there when the wind was bad & the doors in the living room whistled as the wind blew through a few gaps but thats more of a observation than a complaint! I'd recommend this place to anyone - we will be going againReview Source - Trip Advisor
Absolutely fabulous & most enjoyable holiday
The holiday flat was very well equiped with everything a family may need whilst staying there. The only things you need to take is your clothes, food & personal stuff. However, if you are taking a young child there are a few toys & a cot bed with duvet etc but, no high chair, which caused a few problems at meal times. Out of the lounge window were fantastic coastal views, we all found watching the tide come in & out very therapeutic & on actually had the television on to catch up with the weather & news. The beach was in walking distance, as were the shops including a chemist. The nearest supermarket (Co-op) is in Amllech, yet Tesco have a superstore in Holyhead. The flat would not be suitable for people with any mobilty limitations as you have to climb quite a steep set of steps to access the flat. Driving in & out of the allotted parking space could be an issue as well due to tight narrow lanes. Would definately book this flat again when visiting Anglesey.Review Source - Trip Advisor
The surrounding area
On Anglesey, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re planning a family day out with the kids or a relaxing afternoon on one of our lovely sandy beaches, we hope you like some of the suggestions below:
Cemaes Bay sits in the middle of the North Anglesey Coast. To the west is Cemlyn nature reserve which has been described as ‘the jewel in the crown’ of Anglesey’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the summer, the stars of the show are Terns engaged in courtship displays and feeding their young but the reserve is home to a wealth of life - birds, mammals, insects, wildflowers and marine creatures.
Further along the A5025, Church Bay (Porth Swtan) has magnificent views, a curving beach and attractive cliffs, the Wavecrest Café and the oldest preserved cottage on Anglesey. To the east is Amlwch, an ancient port that became part of the ‘Copper Kingdom’ along with the nearby Parys Mountain.
The Anglesey Coastal Path extends right the way around the coastal perimeter of the island and any section that you choose to walk will reward you with spectacular sea views, fascinating historical features and great memories.
North coast beaches
At the northern end of the A5025, Amlwch is a historic fishing village associated with the ‘Copper Kingdom’ of Parys Mountain whereas Cemaes Bay is an attractive beach resort, close to Cemlyn nature reserve and Church Bay (Porth Swtan) with its tall cliffs and the oldest fully restored cottage on Anglesey. The National Trust heritage coastline boasts mile after mile of uninterrupted walks along the coastal path. Also at Church Bay is the locally renowned ‘Lobster Pot’ restaurant and ‘Wavecrest’ coffee shop at the end of the coastal path with its speciality cream teas as well as many other homemade delicacies. This area is excellent for all water sports, cycling on the local and national networks, fishing at Llyn Alaw, walking the Anglesey Coastal Path or just quiet reflection.
East coast beaches
Benllech is a popular sea side destination. The Anglesey Coastal Path and the Wales Coat Path pass through Benllech. Lovely sandy beach ideal for building sandcastles and the rock pools are great for catching crabs! Beach rangers patrol the beach in the summer months and provide organised games for the kids. The beach is family friendly with toilets and refreshments nearby. In the summer holidays it’s a very busy beach but the beach is wide enough to find a quiet spot if you so wish. Sections of the beach are ‘No dogs’ but there are plenty of areas where dogs are allowed.
West coast and beaches
The west coast of Anglesey offers a wide variety of attractions and places to visit. Holyhead on the Holy Island in the north west of Anglesey is known as Ferry port but it has much more to offer with the ruins of an ancient Roman Fort, and the historic Church of St Cybi’s in the centre of town.
The beautiful beaches of Treddur Bay, Rhoscolyn, and Porth Dafarch are great for family days out. Rhosneigr is a famous water sport resort with a mouth-watering array of cafes and bistros.
